The comradery between all disciplines has seen great friendships born from an event that began to showcase these great disciplines. To see riders from different disciplines in the open pen learning from each other is just one of the wonderful outcomes from this show. “The Fun Show” is a tag it gained a few years back and by all accounts everyone that attends is contributing to the overall great atmosphere and great sportsmanship, so thank you to everyone that once again showcased these great attributes at the ARBC, we all just love it.
ARBC Event owners and coordinators, Errol and Gita Thomas were overwhelmed with the support shown for their event with over 65 Sponsors and 16 Trade Stand holders at this year’s show. They welcomed over 2000 people to the show over the weeklong event, bringing the spotlight to not only the town of Dalby but each discipline on a global platform. Livestreaming the across the world, the feedback and contact both during and after the show has been of accolades and expressions of interest coming from both competitors and sponsors, both in Australia and Overseas.
Overall show entries were up by over 30% on last year’s numbers with over 950 entries accepted across all disciplines. The feedback from both competitors, spectators and sponsors across the board was that this show is growing so much each year, it’s fast becoming the Premier Show of the year to attend.

Each year we are seeing not only competitors and sponsors grow, yet bigger crowds visiting the event to watch the all the action. A big thankyou to everyone that made this possible. We love that we also have sponsorship come forward from trainers and competitors alike and would like to also thank everyone that contributed to the overall success of ARBC2019. You can see a full list of our sponsors on our ARBC official website ARBC.NET.AU and urge you all to support those that support our sport.
As the ARBC Show has grown so too has our support teams behind the scenes ensuring the show runs smoothly and everyone’s needs are not only met yet expectations exceeded. Lynda Gray our show secretary works diligently before during and after this sized show and we thank her and the team of helpers that assisted her throughout the show. Our gateman John Wylie and announcer Tim Hoffman ensured the show ran on time and kept all competitors informed on the schedule for the events. This year we invited Donnie McLaughlin from USA to judge alongside our Australian Judge Darren Simpson, bit judges Susan Camfferman and Lynda Gray for our reining events and they were assisted with great pencillers, Sharon Simpson, Den and Jaime-Lee Ditzel. The Challenge, Working Cowhorse and Campdraft judging team consisted of Errol Thomas, Glenn Wyse and Bomber Lancaster, with all our judges and support teams being cared for by Lorraine Wylie, our ARBC hostess for all officials. The arena surface saw not one but two Thomas Arena Drags used simultaneously by Alan Cooper and Devin Lowe, a sight to behold and cutting arena maintenance and drag times in half. To keep the entire grounds and facilities in tip top shape we also had Shane and Daralyn Davies along with their team keeping the entire space immaculately clean, we all sure appreciated it.
We thank everyone involved with
assisting with the ARBC Show in a small or more involved way, the “Can Do”
Attitude from everyone involved is what keeps this great show not only running
yet a place that is a must do on the show calendar each year.

Congratulations to everyone and thank you for helping to make it such a successful event at our ARBC Western Dressage Event, we look forward to welcoming you all back in 2020.
The culmination of all events at the ARBC is the VIP Dinner where we Celebrate our Champions and Thank all our Wonderful Sponsors, this year we extended our guest list to accommodate 200 seated guests and it sold out weeks before the ARBC Show began. We would like to thank our local restaurateur and caterer Col from the Windsor Hotel, yet again there were compliments abound over the quality of your food and presentation of the mezzanine level of our great venue.
There were some special mentions at our VIP Dinner this year as part of the formal proceedings of the evening. We made the decision to continue the wishes of a special lady Christine Parnell who lost her battle with cancer last year and had started an award at the ARBC, the Chris Parnell Sportsmanship and Encouragement Award, recognising the great sportsmanship of a competitor that perhaps didn’t win anything but showed true sportsmanship towards competitors and her pony. The winner of this special award this year was presented by our reining judges Donnie McLaughlin and Darren Simpson to Katie Pope. Congratulations Katie you certainly showed amazing sportsmanship and we do hope winning this award encourages you to continue on your path in reining.

This year we celebrated our Champions handing out 8 big cheques to the value of $25,000 to the great champions of the ARBC for 2019. As the Classic Challenge and ARBC OPEN Derby are the events that this show was originally built on we presented the champions of each event with a leather Ariat Jacket embroidered with their names. This year’s recipients were OPEN Derby Champion Warren Backhouse and OPEN Challenge Champion Robert Leach.

The proceedings moved into a Stallion Service Auction chaired by the golden Microphone Jim Ryan, where we auctioned off two stallion services kindly sponsored by John and Lorraine Wylie from Xtreme Genes, the legendary Gunners Special Nite owned by Turnabout Farms and Chic Dreamin owned by Silver Spurs Equine, both stallions getting top bids for a chance to breed to them. Our two stallions kindly sponsored by Nathan Wilson and Brydie Hughes, Beniah and Tassa N Smart also were auctioned off on the evening to some competitive bidders. Thank you to these great people for putting forward these services to amazing stallions.

Our evening turned to the auction of an item hand drawn by a special lady from the USA Ashley McLaughlin, she drew this beautiful campdrafter sketch all the while wanting it to be auctioned at the ARBC and all proceeds going to the struggling farmers here in Aus. The foundation chosen to receive the proceeds of this sketch was GIVIT Pty Ltd and they have promised to show Ashley how it has helped families in rural Australia. Well done to everyone for supporting this foundation and Ashley for her great heart to want to help.
In true ARBC Style we adjourned to the ARBC Saloon for some well deserved drinks and catch ups with both new and old friends.
We thank everyone that supported, competed or just came to watch the action, we are looking forward to a great year ahead in preparing for our 2020 ARBC Show where we will be releasing news shortly of some new inclusions to our already colourful and action packed program.
Our dates for the 2020 ARBC Show will be 7th to 11th April, Errol and Gita look forward to welcoming you all along again next year.
